Holiday Desserts from Southern Italy

In this class we’ll create a selection of traditional Southern Italian holiday sweets. We’ll bake two classic cookies—Pezzetti di Cannella from Puglia and Mostaccioli from Calabria—then make Struffoli (called Cicirata in Calabria), little golden balls of sweet dough coated in honey. We’ll also prepare Cuciddati, Sicily’s beloved fig-filled Christmas cookie, and finish with hand-filled Cannoli made with fresh homemade ricotta, just as they enjoy in Palermo at Christmastime.

Pezzetti di Cannella (Little cinnamon cookies)
Mostaccioli con Mandorle (Honey cookies filled with almonds,cocoa and anisette)
Cucciddati ( Sicilian fig cookies)
Struffoli or Cicirata ( Fried balls of sweet dough coated with honey)
Cannoli Siciliani (Sicilian cannoli filled with homemade ricotta)
