    Here it is again my annual feast of wild
    mushrooms.  Right about this time of year,
    the Sila mountains of Calabria are
    abundant with wild mushrooms and the
    local residents celebrate with a mushroom
    festival. Not wanting to leave all the fun to
    them, it is appropriate for us to do the
    same here  (hopefully the weather will
    cooperate and we will have a bounty of wild
    mushrooms).   We will taste as many
    seasonal varieties as I can find at the
    markets.  Hopefully porcini and
    chanterelles will dominate as they are my
    favorites.  We will finish the dinner with a
    dessert that does not actually contain
    mushrooms, but resembles a mushroom in
    shape, made with homemade chocolate
    gelato, and a very special surprise in the
    center.
