The "Festival del Peperoncino" is
    celebrated every year in
    Diamante, a town near where I
    grew up.  It is only fitting to
    observe this celebration in my
    classes, as you know I love those
    hot little peppers that we call
    "peperoncino".  I have selected
    some of the dishes that are
    prepared to celebrate this event.  
    We can prepare the meal as "hot
    and spicy" as you like. I will have
    tastes for you of some of the
    delicacies that they are making in
    Calabria with the peperoncino
    peppers, brought back from my  
    trip.  We will make a homemade
    pasta from Calabria tossed with a
    hot spreadable sausage that is
    made with ground hot peppers.  
    We will then make and grill fresh
    Calabrian sausages flavored with
    hot ground pepper powder with a
    side of peperonata, a summer
    stew of peppers, onions and
    tomatoes.  So if you can take the
    heat, stay in the kitchen and join
    me in this celebration of what
    Calabria is famous for.
    We will finish it off with a
    wonderful chocolate gelato made
    with Valhrona cocoa powder and
    peperoncino (of course) that hits
    you at the end of your tongue.
